Just like you, numbers have a family. Real numbers are the big daddy of the numbers, which means that they can be integers, rational or irrationals numbers.Real numbers are then subdivided into integers, rational and irrationals.
Integers: Whole numbers negative and positive numbers.
Example: -2,-1,0,1,2,3....ALERT: THE NUMBER ZERO “0” IS AN INTEGER!!!!
Even integers: -4,-2,0,4,6,8,10
Odd integers: -3,-1, 1, 3, 5
Rational: All integers and fractions.
Example: 0.5,¼,¾
Irrational: These numbers have infinite decimals.
Example: 0.45678...., 3.141592....
How To ADD/SUBTRACT NUMBERS
When you add two numbers with different signs, you subtract and keep the sign of the largest number.
For example: - 10 + 4= - 6, - 6+4= - 2.
When you add two numbers with the same sign, you add and keep the same sign.
For example: -3 - 2= - 5 , -6 - 9= - 15.
